Taking a Breather: vacationing in Migraine-Town

Hi folks, it's been a little slow at eyeliner on a cat the past several days, and I thought I'd share a bit as to why that is. I've had daily migraines for several days in a row, and those of you who have suffered them know that sniffing, testing and painstakingly writing about scents is really not possible. I hope to be back up and running A.S.A.P., because I miss my blog and my readers to bits!

  1. Oh Carrie, feel better! I suffer from chronic retinal migraines with aura, and they can be debilitating. I hope you are getting plenty of rest and caffeine. Please let me know if I can do anything at all for you! Sending you lots of love and kittens! xoxoxo

  2. Thank you ladies! I'm trying a little bit of everything to get relief. My last resort is the big guns- Zomig, which will definitely get rid of the headache but will knock me out for the whole day. There's always the chance of rebound headaches when you use that stuff, too, so I'm trying to go the Joey Route and drink caffeine and regular pain meds. I need a massage!

  4. I used to get them too, all the time, but for no particular reason their frequency has subsided...here's hoping!

  7. Very sorry to hear this and I can totally sympathise - just last week I met up with a fellow perfumista in Switzerland but quite out of the blue was struck down with a migraine that day. The resulting sniffing outing was seriously compromised, not least by my constant need to throw up. : - (

  10. Oh Carrie. I hope you feel better soon. I too suffer from light induced migraines. Makes going outside on a sunny day treacherous. Take care of yourself. We'll be here when you get back. :-)

  12. That sucks Carrie, migraines are the pits. Possibly the one time when perfume is the opposite of comforting. Wishing you better very soon x

  13. Carrie, I miss you and wish getting better very-very soon.

Are there any scents at all (not necessarily perfumes - mint, lavender, lemon, etc.) that aren't painful during your migrains?

  14. Please get well. I feel for you as I used to be a frequent visitor in Migrainville. I got my out by watching myself and constantly making sure that I had enough water. Apparently, in my case thirst was the trigger. Hope you will find what's your trigger -- for some people it's spicy food, red wine, and many other things I tested for back in the day... Take care of yourself and come back happy and healthy!

  15. I occasionally get cluster migraine, which feels like an ice axe driven through my eye. Fortunately, they only last a minute or so, and people would stare if I fell down, screaming, which is what I want to do when they happen. So I really sympathize, get well soon!
